MUSIC IS A BEAUTIFUL THING

This post has been written under some typical circumstances that you'll soon know. I would encourage you all to bear with me and read it with an "open" mind coz ur gonna find me "talking" to u.

It must be a surprise to hear about music from a not-so-music lover like me. Actuallly it will be wrong on my part to say that I dont love music but I take the liberty of saying so coz I am not updated about the latest songs as also I dont have a good knowledge about the music composers and singers.

That part well explained let me proceed about my topic. Music is something that has no language, it is well explained in terms of moods, feelings, frequency and notes. We need music for life but we often dont give much importance to its existence. It is prevalent in all stages of our life from the birth of a child to the death of a person. No, I'm not talking about the crying of a baby on its birth or the cries of the woman when her husband dies, I am talking about the musical toys played for a child and the sad music that is played on the departure of say, a soldier.

If we have to discuss about the not-so-sighted music, let me tell you that at this instant I'm listening to the first ever male dominant item number in Bollywood, yes u guessed it right, "Dard-e-disco". Three cheers for the music that we listen to while we work and yet cant recall what we had just listened to. We also listen to music when we are vacuuming our houses (on the ipod ofcourse) and some fools do the same when riding the bike. It is another issue that I listen to music when I'm taking a bath after a lot of arrangements and numerous extension chords, much to the annoyance of my mom.

And there are times when we feel sad and listen to songs that otherwise we couldn't even bear. Like, I found it hard to listen to rock music until a few years ago. Now I love em, thanx to the tensions of today's world. Another boundary I havnt touched yet is the exercise. Can u imagine exercising while a sad song is on? Music plays a crucial role while exercising. It helps to complete that last bit of ab crunches or the final 10 push-ups. Did I mention that I also listen to music when I get angry? Actually that's coz I wash my clothes best at those times, hence the need.
And my sister had a weird interest of indulging in music while solving her maths sums. Its only normal that I got infected as well. Its just like a yawn, once a person does it , another does it too, its contagious. And this a good example of getting deflected from ones topic of concern, which now for me is music. Not quite actually. Coz yawning reminds me of sleeping and that reminds us all about, ofcourse the alarm clock. Dont you start cursing me about the sleep that you lost today which my blog just reminded you.

Lets dedicate this post to those innumerable composers who have made our lives a lot more bearable to live with their great compositions.

Hufflepuff is all about acceptance

I have joined a community in Orkut which is very much like the Hogwarts of my dreams. No, no I'm not advertising it here, I just wanted to share an essay that I had written in my House notice board about how much I like being in Hufflepuff. Its not that I wouldnt like to be in Gryffindor or Slytherin or even the Ravenclaw, the community sorted me into Hufflepuff and i like it there.

What I wrote is as follows:-

I'm Rose Zeller..
I am the student from Hufflepuff..
Our prefect is Laura Madley....
My good friends in the house are Zach, Ced, Susan n Laura..

We are a team, our house...
no matter a girl or a boy, we are alwayz a team....
Sometimes we need to be told that....
coz not alwayz do we understand how much we love each other...
But whether said or not , we love each other....
Such is our house...
There are times when things go wrong..
n we misunderstand each other,
but then our friendship brings us back together...
A kiss or a hug or even a smile,
These little things say a lot.....
n help a lot through our bad times
or when we are low.....
We believe that beauty is when we are able to show what we are
Not just skin deep.....

We are loyal, friendly n faithful lots...

We may be mad at u or be ill behaved at times
but we do have the courage to say sorry if we're wrong...
We stand by our friends if they need us
but if they are wrong we can even slap them...
Coz we are with our friends no matter right or wrong ....
And then if we're wrong we have the courage to face the consequences with our friends...
coz ultimately our friends will know their mistakes....

"We are ordinary, down to earth people but in our ordinariness, lies our extraordinariness. We are loving, patient and hardworking people.Everyone can trust us and depend on us.
Hufflepuff is the house based on values and virtues over simply deeds, importance is based more on how you are, not what you do. Hufflepuff is all about acceptance"

THOSE SWEET LITTLE DEVILS

I had just wanted to have some extra money. Little had I known that my agreement to enlighten the minds of sweet, cute, innocent children of my locality would later turn out to be an "eye opener" about how very admirable the lovely kids really are.

I started with one girl who wanted to get the computer basics right along with C programming and HTML. That was alright with me, but very soon she wanted to learn the how to surf the internet. It was all very well till she came across Orkut, after that I needed add more, need I?

Ah well, she took up commerce and somehow her parents didnt feel she needed to learn computers anymore. Then I had a group of class 8 students who were all from different schools. Four children and four different schools. And that too CBSE and ICSE boards. I got to take their Maths , Chemistry, Physics and Biology. As if that wasn't enough, an aunty from a nearby home brought her Class six child. And boy was he bad! He did all except study. His excuses were as colourful as the rainbow. He could think up all the excuses that a person employed in the corporate world also wouldnt be able to cook up. They would range from "I am ill"(the oldest) to "I have lice in my hair. I need to scratch my head".

In those days I would think of punishments that wouldnt sound hard or as a punishment at all. For some of you who don't watch news channels too much, let me add that in those days corporal punishments at school were the favourites in TV news channels, and somehow my students could remember only that to discuss.

After that there came a phase when I started admitting small children to my tutions as well. One of them was so ill-mannered, he would ask me for "Kurkure" and "Frooti", and when he wouldnt listen to me and I would scold him, he would warn me that he would tell his dad!

And then there was another boy who only like one poem, Humpty Dumpty. He would come and listen to me but his "Humpty dumpty" book must be kept open. An incident with him involved his "pooping" in my studyroom. Gosh,I cant forget the horror of it all. Thankfully his mom was so embarrased, she stopped sending him.

Oh I missed out atleast two incidents when students came to checkout my classes and never bothered to give me a call if they wanted to study or not. One of them came to read for a whole month but her mom wanted a teacher to come home and teach, later she explained when I had called her up. She feel in a canal I heard, and I wondered was it because she had failed to pay my fees. God bless her.

Then came a time when I had to give some entrance exams and I knew that it was the end of my tution career. i notified all the parents before 1 month so that they could arrange some other teachers. Although my experiences as a tution teacher werent great, I was now able to understand why certain children control their parents with all that wailing and what not! I also learnt that not all children are cute little things.

Now that I have some savings I'll be able to use them for my coaching for MBA entrance exams.

If only I had one good little student.
